Between criticism and praise progress the pedagogical phase of the installation of the stocks, devices designed to control the bad parking in Cali.
This commitment, aimed at recovering the public space in the city, which was launched last Viernes, Agosto 1, in the framework of the ‘Good Parking Plan’, seeks to sanction those who are estimated in prohibited areas, especially in the center of the capital of Vallecaucana.

From the Cali Mobility Secretariat, they stressed that these types of devices have already been implemented in other cities in the country, with results that they consider successful.
It should be taken into account that this measure will be in force in its pedagogical phase until Viernes, Agosto 8, in order to inform, raise awareness and educate drivers and citizens about the consequences of bad parking.
Traffic agents such as Edilberto Sánchez and Diego Paredes were responsible for taking the first step in this campaign, deploying at strategic points of the Caleño Center to explain how the device works and why its implementation is key to a more orderly and safe city.
As the agents explained, the stocks is a mechanical device that is placed directly on one of the wheels of the vehicle, whether a motorcycle, motorcycle or truck, preventing its immediate movement. The driver will not be able to withdraw it by himself, and will only be released after the arrival of an authorized transit agent.

«This mechanism will apply to vehicles that are parked in prohibited areas: platforms, pedestrian areas, next to hydrants, at pedestrian crossings or blocking roads. The end is clear: recovering space for people, reducing congestion and promoting a culture of respect,» said agent Edilberto Sánchez.
Once the public servant arrives at the scene, issues the corresponding comparison for violation of the National Traffic Code.
The most common infraction associated with this type of sanction, known as code C02 (parking in a prohibited place), has an approximate value of 602,000 pesos.

From the Ministry of Mobility of Cali, they explained that the ‘good parking plan’ not only seeks to sanction, but to educate and transform habits. The pedagogical phase, which extends until Agosto 8, will allow citizens to adapt to the new measure before the sanctioning stage begins, in which the stocks will be applied immediately and mandatory.

«This is not a war against drivers, but a commitment to a more orderly, safer and more human cali. The public space belongs to everyone, and we must respect it,» they emphasized from the entity.
In this way, the authorities call on the community to avoid parking in prohibited places, use public and private parking lots, and actively participate in the construction of a more responsible road culture.
With this initiative, Cali joins other cities in the country that have already adopted the stocks as an effective tool against vehicular disorder. The message is clear: the bad parking will no longer have space in the city center.
