Amid the wave of violence in the country and after the attack suffered by the senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay on Junio 7, in Medellín they requested to increase security measures.
This was indicated by the mayor of the district, Federico Gutiérrez, who referred to the safety of the candidates who arrive in the city.

Gutiérrez requested that the Ministry of Security and Coexistence articulate with the Police, the Army and the National Protection Unit (UNP) to strengthen the security conditions of the candidates for the Presidency of the Republic that visit the city in the midst of its political exercise.
“We request that those who have an agenda in Medellín, inform us to strengthen their security schemes and provide accompaniment. Absolutely all, regardless of the party or ideology they represent. The most important thing is to preserve life, ”said the local president.

Similarly, Gutiérrez spoke in front of this attack reiterating his best wishes for presidential candidate.
“It is an attack in which the first affected is he and his family, but it is an attack against institutionality and a country that wants to overcome violence. Each candidate and each campaign will make their own decisions. What I do believe is that we can not follow the day to day as if nothing. Here you have to demand guarantees to the national government, where are the guarantees? Did they deny? ”Gutiérrez said.
Similarly, the mayor of Medellín indicated that from the district administration they reaffirm their permanent disposition to adopt the necessary protection measures and work together with the authorities.
«The security and respect for the life of all people who are part of the democratic process are a priority,» Gutierrez said.
